Rachelle was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 2010 with a BA in Sociology and Social Anthropology with a minor in Law in Society. She earned her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2014 with a concentration in Canadian Practice. Rachelle then returned to Edmonton where she obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee of Accreditation and completed her articles in Edmonton before being called to the bar in 2017.

Rachelle has worked in the area of Family Law for several years (including years as a legal assistant before being called to the Bar). She understands that family disputes can be difficult and works with clients to make their experience with the legal system easier. She strives to ensure clients understand their options and works with them to reach a solution that best suits their needs whether it be through out of Court methods or litigation (when appropriate).

In addition to the traditional retainer model, Rachelle offers Limited Scope Retainers or unbundling services as well as notarial services.

How can I prepare for the IELTS exam?

This is where our partnership with English Exam Prep comes in to help!

You probably already work in an English-speaking environment or study in English, which is great for building your English-language foundation. We help you demonstrate your English foundation in an exam-setting exam setting understand how the exam is formatted, what the examiners are looking for, and most importantly, how to strategize to make sure you obtain the highest score possible.

Although EEP is based in Montreal, the classes are offered by a video that you can access at any time.

Here is an outline of the lessons you will work through if you choose to join us.

Here is a FREE SAMPLE LESSON to see if you like our teaching style and here is a FREE EXAM SIMULATION to get an idea about what the exam is like.

What if I am a beginner in English?

Our lessons are only for intermediate and advanced English users, so if you still need to build an English foundation, you will need to continue your foundation English studies. Ask your immigration representative about general English classes you can take. Most of our clients continue with their English studies while they are taking our IELTS training so that they can maximize their time.

After you are at an intermediate level, then we can help you with your IELTS exam.

What is my current level?

Often people can converse in English, but they do not know how this translates into their performance on the IELTS exam.

We have a free exam simulation to help you see which level you are currently at for listening and reading. There is also a speaking and writing simulation which will help you get an idea of what the real exam is like for those two areas.

If you take the simulation and need to move up 0.5 to 1 Band to get the score you need, sign up for our course! If you take the simulation and need to move up more than 1 Band, it is a good idea to work on your English foundation by taking general English classes. Then, once you have a solid foundation in English, take our IELTS course!

Where can I take my exam?

Once you have completed our lessons, you will be ready to tackle the exam!

It is always a good idea to register for the exam as early as possible so you can take it immediately after completing our lesson series.

Is It For Me?

This new no-cost pre-employment program is for newcomers to Canada.
Participants will be assisted in finding an employment agency that fits their needs!
Participants will develop skills such as targeting resume, cover letter writing, interview skills, and job search assistance
This program works alongside other settlement service agencies and employment agencies, so participants may also be enrolled in other programs.
The program will offer customized one-on-one support to aid newcomers that are facing adversity with finding employment in today’s Canadian labour market.

IRCC can help protect you by giving you a special permit to stay in Canada. It’s called a temporary resident permit (TRP). It will give you legal immigration status in Canada. You can also get this permit for your children if they are in Canada.

In Canada, you do not have to testify against your abuser to get temporary resident status.

There is no fee for an initial TRP in cases of family violence. Depending on your situation, it's possible to apply for another TRP at the end of the initial period.

If you get a TRP, you can also get coverage for trauma counseling and healthcare benefits. You may also apply for a fee-exempt work permit.
